Iran Tribunal is an International People’s Tribunal created by a large group of individuals composed of families of political prisoners executed in 1980s and survivors of this human tragedy to investigate 1980s political mass executions.

What “Iran Tribunal” achieved, was unique and historical. For the first time in the history of mankind, while the world totally neglected and turned their backs to a nation being plundered and at the same time abused beyond any imagination, ordinary and noble people and those who respect humanity and moral values, who neither hold state power nor are influenced by such powers, held the criminal rulers of the Islamic Republic of Iran accountable for their crimes against humanity. “Iran Tribunal” proved in practice that it is possible to unite the masses with diverse political views in the form of an independent Social Power institution, to hold one of the most brutal regimes in the contemporary history of mankind accountable for its crimes against humanity.

For the first time in the history of mankind, judges of Iran Tribunal could hold a state accountable for its crimes against humanity. This is new and as Professor John Dugard, who has served on the International Law Commission, the primary UN institution for the development of international law, said, this will be soon or later accepted as law and will be added to International customary law.

Featuring speakers: Professor Geoffrey Nice QC, Professor William Schabas, Professor Payam Akhavan and Professor John Cooper QC.

Mr. Hamid Sabi, Counsel to Iran Tribunal, will moderate the meeting.
