Farangis Solsali (Mother Golchoubian) was born in 1940 in Qaem Shahr. She passed away on 11 April 2021 as a result of a heart attack in Qaem Shahr. Two of her sons, Kourosh and Kambiz Golchoubian, were executed by the Islamic Republic during the 1980s.
Mother Farangis was one of the courageous, persistent, and the youngest member of Mothers of Khavaran. She maintained a constant and visible presence at Khavaran and took part in most of the ceremonies held to commemorate the fallen. During these gatherings, she would often ask participants to sing the song of Karavan together, saying that Kambiz loved this song very much. In the last several years of her life, due to illness, Madar (Mother) Farangis became homebound and was no longer able to attend the memorial ceremonies at the Khavaran cemetery.

Kourosh Golchoubian

Kourosh was born in 1962 in Qaem Shahr into a middle-class family. He completed his primary and secondary education in Tehran and received his high school diploma from Azar High School in 1981. He was among the first organizers and activists of student strikes in 1977. His connections with strike activists from other schools, the exchange of news about the struggle, bringing students into the streets, and active participation in the arena of resistance marked the beginning of a new phase in his life.

Kourosh began his organizational activities through the student vanguard movement and by supporting the Organization of Iranian People’s Fedai Guerrillas. In October 1979, he joined Rah-e Kargar organization. He continued his activities with the Committee of Student Supporters of Rah-e Kargar and later with the organization’s local committees, including the West Tehran Committee.

Kourosh was arrested in September 1981 and, after 25 days of torture that resulted in his arm being broken, he was released. He was rearrested on 22 October 1981 during a raid on his home and was executed the same day, at the age of nineteen.

Kambiz Golchoubian

Kambiz was born in 1959 in Qaem Shahr into a middle-class family. Like his younger brother Kourosh, he began his political activities in connection with the people’s uprising against the Shah and, after the victory of the uprising, became a supporter of the Organization of Iranian People’s Fedai Guerrillas. During the split between the Minority and Majority factions, he joined the Majority, and later, together with the number of others, who followed the Sixteen Azar Statement, he separated from the organization.

Kambiz Golchoubian was executed at the age of twenty-nine during the mass execution of political prisoners in the summer of 1988 in Evin Prison. Along with hundreds of other political prisoners executed in that summer, he was secretly buried in mass graves in Khavaran. At the time of his execution, Kambiz was married and had two sons.
